Port Blair, April 5: Skill Development is a key to improve employability and income earning opportunities for women and for enhancing sustainable rural development and livelihood. This was said by Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands while inaugurating a three month duration Skill Development Training on ‘Tailoring and Fashion Designing’ organized by him at Sundar Colony, Haddo on 3rd April 2021. He said Skill is the bridge between job and workforce but majority of our female workforce is unskilled. Further, the Member of Parliament said, women economic participation and empowerment are fundamental to strengthening women’s rights and enabling them to have control over their lives.

Port Blair, April 5: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association expressed gratitude towards the pro-active steps taken by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration on resolving some of the burning issues of Govt. employees. In a letter to Chief Secretary, the General Secretary of the Association, Shri T.S.Sreekumar appreciated the initiatives taken by his office in settling the issues which were kept pending for a long period.

Port Blair, April 5: Understanding the enhanced safety and security requirements of these pristine Isles, Coast Guard Headquarters has strengthened the fleet strength of A&N Region by rebasing two more Interceptor Boats at Andaman & Nicobar. These two Interceptor Boats joined Coast Guard Fleet on 01 April 21.

Port Blair, April 5: Port Blair Municipal Council has bagged a coveted position in a prestigious project for prevention of plastic entering marine ecosystem, to be implemented in association with Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH under a Technical Cooperation project.
Importance of the sustainable plastic waste management in urban centres cannot be under stated. Marine litter in particular, threatens ecosystems and adversely affects fisheries and tourism industries. It also affects public health with increased risk of plastic entering food webs.

Port Blair, April 5: A lady named Anisa Bibi residing at Rangachang survived by two very young kids had approached Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi requesting for help to make a living for her family.
She did not have any support of her in-laws, family members but expressed that she is ready to work in any circumstances. She has plans to open up a small poultry farm in front of her kacha house at Rangachang for which she needed financial assistance.
