Port Blair, June 8: As many as 12 Youth Congress leaders today joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, in presence of the local media representatives and the BJP State leaders. The joining team was led by Shri. Tanmay Mallick, former State President NSUI and present State General Secretary, Youth Congress, A&N Islands.

Port Blair, June 8: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has taken up the matter with the Director of State Transport, A&N Administration requesting him for extension of validity of fitness of the various categories of vehicles for three months w.e.f.01.06.2020.

Port Blair, June 8: In a notification issued by the High Court at Calcutta, Appellate Side, the Registrar General has notified that the physical functioning of all the courts in the District may be resumed in a limited form, from June 8, 2020, subject to the availability of transport and the attending circumstances at such places. The District Judges should exercise their discretion with extreme case and caution. Hearings of bail matters through VC will continue on a daily basis till the lockdown is completely lifted and normalcy restored.

Port Blair, June 8: The Traffic Branch of A&N Police organised meetings with the auto rickshaw drivers and private bus drivers and conductors on 01.06.2020 and 06.06.2020 in the conference hall of PS Aberdeen under the chairmanship of Shri. Arjun Prasad, Inspector Traffic and Shri. Ajay Kumar Rai, Dy.SP (Traffic) respectively, by maintaining proper social distancing. Around 50 to 60 Auto/Bus drivers participated in the meetings. During the meetings, they were informed the precautionary measures of COVID-19 to be strictly compiled with respect to Auto Rickshaw/Bus.
