Port Blair, May 15: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to treat journalists as frontline COVID warriors since they are also in the field interacting with corona worriers, police, general public and have the risk of getting the virus.  He requested that all the journalist who are below the age of 45 years should be vaccinated on priority basis.

Port Blair, May 15: Shri. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has expressed happiness on the news of M.V Sindhu reaching Port Blair. M.V Sindhu a 500 Passenger as well as 150 MT Cargo Vessel was built at Cochin Shipyard Ltd. and was handed over to Andaman and Nicobar Administration recently.

The vessel will soon be pressed into service in the Islands and the Islanders will be benefitted by the services provided by the vessel.

Port Blair, May 13: The increasing trend of positive cases among the people who are moving to inter- Island is still continuing. Addressing a COVID-19 media briefing held in the conference hall of IP&T today, the Secretary, (IP&T), Shri Sunil Kumar Singh informed that it is a matter of great concern and urged people to minimize their movement. He said that today’s data reveals that 2 flights with 126 passengers arrived and during the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted on these passengers, 1 person was found positive while the test conducted on 73 persons bound for Middle & North Andaman at Ferrargunj 6 persons were found positive.

Port Blair, May 15: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to provide a ship to Car Nicobar to transport 341 tribal people of different villages of Car Nicobar, which includes college students, medical patients, teachers from North & Middle Andaman, South Andaman whose summer vacation started from 1st May, 2021 are now stationed at Port Blair.

Port Blair, May 13: The District Administration is taking all necessary precautions to tackle and control the surge of Covid Cases in South Andaman. As a part of such measures, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA) held a meeting with Muslim religious leaders to discuss course of action during Eid-ul-Fitr, visited Urban Health Centres at Shadipur and Dairyfarm and distributed ration kits in Old Pahargaon containment zone.
