Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 6: The Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray met the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration today and discussed several crucial issues pertaining to the development of the Islands. The key topics included the early conduct of DPC and State Plan Board meetings, identification of roads connecting harbor jetties and ports for National Highway declaration, finalization of priority roads, bridges/culverts to construct under the CRF fund, supply of DAP and neem-coated urea to farmers, urgent survey and repairs of harbor jetties, utilization of vacant urban land for tourism development and resolving land conversion issues.

Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency along with Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration reviewed the presentation made by IIT Madras, Department of Ocean Engineering, who conducted the Pre-Feasibility study for the development of Deep Water Port at Atlanta Bay, Diglipur.

Diglipur, Jan 6: The NIPUN Mela organised at Govt. SS Laxmipur yesterday was an event of great interest to the community members who came to see the creative works of the small children of the primary sections of the school. The students under the guidance of their teachers and Parents have developed some good TLM articles, using waste materials to be used as teaching-learning materials under Foundational Literacy and Basic Numeracy objectives.

Nancowry, Jan. 6: The picturesque Nancowry sub-division came alive as it hosted a vibrant Island Tourism Festival (ITF), 2024 yesterday at Indira Park, Kamorta, celebrating the rich cultural heritage, natural beauty and diverse traditions of the region. The event was graced by Shri Pravesh Ranjan Jha, Director (Shipping), A&N Administration, as the chief guest, and Shri Aditya Sangotra, Assistant Commissioner, Nancowry, as the guest of honor. Commanding Officers of INS Kardip and Indian Coast Guard, along with Chief Tribal Captain, Nancowry, Ms. Ayesha Majeed, were also present on the occasion.
