Port Blair, July 12: As per the communication received from the Pondicherry university in the evening, U.G.Ed March/April examinations scheduled on 13th, 14th and 15th July at Tagore Government College of Education, Port Blair has been postponed. The revised dated for these examinations will be announced by the university later.

Port Blair, July 11: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to provide 3,00,000 doses of vaccine for the islanders for cent percent immunization of islanders above 18 years. He said that Andaman & Nicobar Administration has till now managed the COVID-19 pandemic situation in a very professional manner in the last two waves by imposing containment zone, travel restrictions and lockdowns.

Port Blair, July 11: Acting proactively on the fact that the ANIIDCO shops and bars have been opened after lockdown relaxations, South Andaman Police has started intensive special drive against drunken driving and persons causing nuisance under influence of intoxication. To crack down the whip against drunken driving, multiple mobile checking teams have been formed and the barricade staffs have been tasked to strictly check the vehicles and their drivers. All the violators will be challaned as per law and their vehicles will be impounded.

Port Blair, July 11: The District Administration in its efforts for the containment of COVID-19 is meticulously implementing the five-fold strategy Testing, Tracing, Treatment, Isolation and Vaccination in the District.
Vaccination camps are being held frequently in the far flung areas of the District. Till date, in the jurisdiction of the Wimberlygunj Health and Wellness Centre area around 2260 persons in the age group of 45 and above have been vaccinated out of which 850 persons have also got the second dose. Around 1416 persons in the age group of 18 plus have been provided with the first dose of the vaccine.

Port Blair, July 11: Lieutenant General Ajai Singh, AVSM, Commander-in-Chief Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN) visited MARCOS (PB) to review the level of preparedness. During his visit the MARCOS displayed their professional skills in all three dimensions (Sea, Air & Land) to reach and counter any emergent situation in the entire span of the island chain. The CINCAN put his hands on few of the capability enhancers such as the LSV (Light Strike Vehicle) and the variety of sniper/assault weapons.
