Port Blair, Dec. 8: The Hon’ble Minister of State for Home, Shri Nityanand Rai will be arriving here tomorrow (Dec. 9) on a 4-day visit to the Islands. Soon after arrival, the Minister will visit National Memorial Cellular Jail and Flag Point. The Minister will visit COVID Care Center at DBRAIT, Dollygunj on Dec. 10. He is also scheduled to visit Shaheed Dweep and Swaraj Dweep and inspect the tourism project sites and Blue Flag Certified Beach on the same day.

Port Blair, Dec. 8: On 04/12/2020 information was received to Inspector Mohd. Elias, In-charge, PS Central Crime Station that contraband are kept in possession of one Prasenjit Debnath R/o Prem Nagar, which was conveyed to Senior Officers and on the direction of Shri Jagdev Singh Yadav DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID), raiding team comprising ASI Vijay Shankar, Constable P. K Mondal, Rajendran, Imran and Raja Rao of PS CCS was constituted and sent to Phoenix Bay for carrying out the raid in a highly professional and well planned way. The raiding team recovered around 520 grams of Ganja from the possession of Prasenjit Debnath. The recovered Ganja was seized on the spot and accused Prasenjit Debnath S/o Shri Subhash Debnath R/o Prem Nagar was arrested under NDPS Act. The raid was headed by Sh. Jagdev Singh Yadav, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID) and under the close supervision of Sh. Anant Mittal, IPS, SP(CID).

Port Blair, Dec. 7: The Port Blair Municipal Council is implementing the PM Street Vendor’s Aatma Nirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme for street vendors in letter and spirit. PM SVANidhi is a collateral free special microcredit facility for street vendors. It helps to formalize the street vendors and open up new opportunities for them to move ahead in their micro-enterprises by using the loan capital of Rs. 10,000 /-.

Port Blair, Dec. 8: Considering the on-going COVID-19 pandemic and its consequential adverse impact on imparting training for in-service police personnel, the Police Training School, Prothrapur of Andaman & Nicobar Police has initiated short courses on virtual platform from the month of November onwards. In this process, a one day short course on “Cyber Crime” was conducted on 07/12/2020 from 1000 hrs to 1300 hrs. The objective of the course is to enhance the knowledge and skills of the police personnel related to Cyber Crime.

Port Blair, Dec. 7: The PM SVANidhi scheme has emerged as a savior for street vendors in their most turbulent times. Their business has been adversely affected during the pandemic. Among the worst hit figures a lady street vendor, Arpita Singha Roy, who runs a fast food business, opposite Bharat Textile, Aberdeen bazaar. She along with her husband supports a family a four members. The Fast food business is their only source of income on a daily basis. With all their savings being exhausted during pandemic time, their life had come to a standstill.
