Port Blair, June 26: CPI (M) has demanded creation of an Autonomous Tribal Council for Nicobar District on the lines of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council.  In the Memorandum submitted to the Home Secretary, Govt. of India on 23rd June 2023 in Delhi, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee stated that after the 73rd Constitution (Amendment) Act, 1992 came into being, the people of the country have got a direct participation in the governance of the local bodies. Panchayat-raj institutions were reorganized in the 3-tier system with entire participation of the people in the implementation of the welfare measures initiated by the governments. 

Port Blair, June 26: Shri Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member BJP and Former State President, BJP ANI wrote a letter to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, ANI & Chief Secretary, A&N Administration and requested to expeditious completion of Shibpur Airport, Diglipur.

Port Blair, June 26: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS chaired the first meeting of the A&N Islands UT Level Committee on Standardization and Quality Systems today in the conference hall of Secretariat. The meeting was attended by Senior Officers of A&N Administration, DDG and Officers of Bureau of Indian Standards and members of the UT Level Committee. 

Port Blair, June 26: Continued Medical Education(CME) programme was organised for the benefit of the members of A&N Islands Private Practicing Doctors Association. The programme was addressed by Dr Hareesh Kumar, Additional Principal of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology and HOD of Government Medical College & Hospital Barmer, Rajasthan. On the occasion, Dr Hareesh shared his expertise and enlightened the medical fraternity on various legal health issues as a guest lecture at Hotel TSG Emerald view on 25th June 2023.
