Port Blair, Dec. 5: The Department of Agriculture in association with Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) celebrated ‘World Soil Day, 2022’ on the theme ‘Soils: Where Food Begins’ at Namunaghar Gram Panchayat today. Shri Y.Yenketeswar, Pradhan, Namunaghar Gram Panchayat was the chief guest on the occasion while Shri Mohammed Safiq, Pradhan, Mithakhari Gram Panchayat was the guest of honour. PRIs members and villagers of Namunaghar attended the programme.

Port Blair, Dec. 5: A selection trial for selecting paddlers for participation in the 33rd Junior & Sub-Junior National Canoe Championship to be held at Bhopal, (MP) from Dec.18 to 21 will be organized by Andaman & Nicobar Kayaking & Canoeing Association at Water Sports Complex, Sippighat on Dec.10, 2022 at 6 am.

Port Blair, Dec. 5: The weather forecast bulletin received from Meteorological Department indicates low pressure area formation over South Andaman Sea and subsequently depression formation over Southeast Bay of Bengal by 6th December, 2022. Keeping in view the safety of passenger and vessels, the sailing of DSS vessels may get suspended/ cancelled in all sectors including harbour ferry at short notice.

Port Blair, Dec. 5: On the occasion of ‘National Pollution Control Day’, Andaman & Nicobar Pollution Control Committee (ANPCC), Department of Science and Technology, A&N Administration organized a mass stickering programme with a message ‘Walk More; Drive Smart’ to reduce the air pollution caused due to the emission from vehicles.

Port Blair, Dec. 5: In view of the weather advisory issued by IMD about the formation of low pressure area over Southeast Bay of Bengal and South Andaman Sea and is likely to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm and reach Southwest Bay of Bengal near north Tamil Nadu coasts on Dec. 8, the Directorate of Shipping Services, keeping in view the safety of the passengers and the vessel has postponed the scheduled sailing programme of MV Swaraj Dweep for Chennai scheduled on Dec.6, 2022 from Port Blair. Now, the vessel will sail for Chennai on Dec.8, 2022 at 1000 hrs from Haddo Wharf.
