Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 25: World Tourism Day is celebrated across the globe every year on September 27, and this year, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has also joined in the festivities. This year’s theme, ‘Tourism and Peace,’ emphasizes the importance of sustainable practices to preserve the Islands for future generations. The Tourism Department along with the line Departments of A & N Administration and Tourism Stakeholders is celebrating World Tourism Day in a befitting manner with various programmes. In the series of programmes, a Seminar focused on the theme will be organized at JNRM tomorrow (Sept.26 in association with Tourism Department and India Tourism. The Seminar will be held at Seminar Hall of JNRM at 10.30 am, in which, the Secretary (IP&T), Shri Vishwendra will be the chief guest while the Director, IP&T, Shri Azharuddin Zahiruddin Quazi, IAS, Principal, JNRM, Dr Hemanth Kumar Sharma will be the guests of honour. the Assistant Director, India Tourism, Shri Ramakrishna will be the special guests. 

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 25: A Musical Evening titled ~ "Meri Awaaz Hi Pahechaan Hai (Episode#3)" will be presented by 'Jhumurr Socio-Cultural Society', Port Blair with a team of LM-fan Club on 28th September, 2022 (Saturday) from 5.45 p.m onwards at Hotel Driftwood, Haddo for paying rich Tribute to the inimitable Singing Legend & Bharat Ratna - Lata Mangeshkar on her 95th Birth Anniversary. The show, open to all for witnessing, is organised in association with Hotel Driftwood, Haddo, Sri Vijaya Puram.

Ograbraj, Sept. 25: On September 24, 2024, a swift and successful operation by PS Ograbraj led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of illegal liquor in the Chouldari area. HC Ashok Roy, accompanied by PC Martin and HG  B. Thamma Rao, during their beat patrolling received a tip-off about an individual attempting to sell illicit liquor in the region.

Acting on the information, the team, including HC Sumati Kumari, moved swiftly to Chouldari near Swadesh Agro Farm. There, they spotted a suspicious motorcycle Hero Ignitor bearing regn. No. AN01-L-2566 approaching from the market. Upon stopping the rider for inspection, they discovered a bag containing 24 sealed bottles of 375 ml IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor), specifically Bagpiper Deluxe Supreme Whiskey.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 25: On September 25, 2024, the 67th Police Constable Batch of the Andaman & Nicobar Police donated a substantial amount of Rs. 57,000/- (Fifty-Seven Thousand Rupees Only) towards the treatment of a woman who was involved in a tragic accident on VIP Road near Police Line area, where she lost her elder daughter and her infant in the womb. Her treatment is currently underway at G.B. Pant Hospital in Sri Vijayapuram, and she will be going to Chennai for further care.

The Electricity Department is committed to ensure a stable and uninterrupted power supply to all areas throughout the festivities.
