Ban on unlawful assemblies and prohibition on holding of public meeting during the period of 48 hours ending with the hours fixed for the close of the poll

Port Blair, April 15: The Election Commission of India has announced the General Elections-2024 (Phase-I) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency and Polling will be held on 19/04/2024 from 0700 hrs. to 1800 hrs. Under Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 which connotes prohibition for conduct of public meetings during the period of 48 hours ending with hour  fixed for conclusion of poll, the Election Commission of India has issued specific instructions inter-alia during the last 48 hours of end of poll by taking into consideration for ensuring creation of conducive environment for conduct of free and fair polling especially in context of Law and Order view point by banning unlawful assemblies and prohibition on holding public meetings.

Port Blair, April 15: The Hon'ble Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has declared the Summer Vacation for the year 2024 in respect of all Government, Private Aided and Unaided Schools of A&N Islands with effect from 02nd May, 2024 (Thursday) to 30th June, 2024 (Sunday) for 60 days. All schools shall reopen on 01st July, 2024 (Monday).

Port Blair, April 15: On the occasion of 69th Fire Service week, the Directorate General Fire Service, Civil Defence and Home Guards, MHA, Govt. of India, New Delhi has announced DG Disc and commendation certificate in favour of officers/officials of different organization of different States & UTs. 

Three Fire officers of A&N Fire and Emergency Services have been awarded Bronze Disc & Commendation Certificates. This marks a significant moment for A & N Fire and Emergency Services and A & N Police, as it's the first time they have received such recognition.

Port Blair, April 15: On 08/04/2024, information was received in PS Shaheed Dweep that a tourist has not returned back to the resort since 07/04/2024 morning, when he left on a cycle before sunrise.

Subsequently, a team was formed for the search of the missing person and upon checking of CCTVs, it was found that he was cycling towards Neil Kendra on 07/04/2024 at around 4 am. With this clue, it was assumed that he was cycling towards Neil Kendra for watching the sunrise and accordingly search was initiated in the jungles around Neil Kendra. Police Marine Force and local fishermen community were also roped in to aid search in the sea.
