Port Blair, Sept. 8: A Meeting of AC Cadre employees of Andaman & Nicobar Administration has been convened in the office of Andaman Nicobar Rajya Karmachari Mahasangh (ANRKM) in presence of Shri. M. Veeranna, State President, BMS, A & N Islands.

A lengthy discussion on the issues facing by the AC Cadre employees were discussed and flagged the points to be raised with the Administration as well as with the GoI for its redressal. In the meeting, a new association has been formed in the name of Andaman Nicobar AC Cadre Karmachari Sangh in which Shri. R. Rajesh, Shri. Thiruvasagam and Shri. Jaipal were declared as President, Secretary and, Finance Secretary respectively besides other office bearers and Executive members.

Port Blair, Sept. 8: The Andaman & Nicobar Football Association will be organizing a selection trail for the upcoming 29th Senior Women’s National football Championship for Rajmata Jijabai Trophy 2024-25, on 14/09/2024 from 09am onwards at Netaji Stadium, The players who are willing to participate in the selection trial should register themselves in AIFF through ANFA, So all the Districts, Departments, clubs, Services and villages are requested to send their players for selection trail at the above mention date, time & venue.

Port Blair, Sept. 8: The National Council of Science Museum, Kolkata (NCSM) has partnered with NCERT, Ministry of Education, GoI and Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) to conduct the mega event Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) 2024-25 for school students of class VI to XI. Students can participate in this talent search examination either on Oct. 23 or Oct. 27, 2024 in 12 major regional Indian languages along with English & Hindi. It is designed to be carried out using digital devices (App based) such as Mobile Phone, Tablet, Laptop/Desktop etc. This 90 minutes open book examination can be attempted by the students on any of the above exam dates between 10 am and 6 pm either from their school or from their home. The topper students will then participate in the next level of examination at State and thereafter at national levels consist of application oriented multiple choice questions, hands-on activities, observation and analysis, situational problem solving ability and a series of other activities.

Port Blair, Sept. 8: The Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC) is committed to celebrate this year's Puja Festivals with a special focus on creating Zero Waste Events, aligning with the Swachh Survekshan 2024 under the Swachh Bharat Mission. PBMC is making all possible efforts to keep the city clean, intact and waste-free, and is encouraging citizens to take active steps toward sustainable waste management. The Council is especially emphasizing waste segregation into dry and wet waste categories and waste reduction, particularly targeting the reduction of single-use plastic, which tends to increase during festival celebrations, especially during the distribution of Prasad.

Port Blair, Sept. 8: World Ozone Day also recognized as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, is a yearly event observed on Sept.16.The date was designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 1994, commemorating the date in 1987 when nations signed the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. This special day aims to draw attention of everyone on this planet towards the usefulness of ozone layer, how it protects us from UV rays and how we need to protect it from damaging chemicals. The theme of World Ozone Day 2024 is ‘Ozone for Life,’ underscoring the beneficial outcomes of the Montreal Protocol in fostering the recovery of the ozone layer and mitigating climate change.
