Port Blair, Sept. 2: The World Beach Day was celebrated by INTACH A&N Chapter with support from ANET and Dakshin Foundation and in association with Coastal Green Zone. A total of 39 boys and girls from different villages in Wandoor participated in the celebration.

The day started with a presentation by Shri. Anand Rao from ANET who explained the significance of beaches to the children. Meera from Dakshin Foundation gave an orientation to the children about the beach ecosystem while Coastal Green Zone helped the children enact a role play where the children were divided into three groups to represent waves, beaches and trees and buildings. The role play explained beautifully how the beaches protect us and why it is important to save our beaches.

Port Blair, Sept. 2: Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to combating drug-related activities, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station executed two targeted operations on August 30, 2024, resulting in significant seizures and arrests.

In the first operation, acting on specific intelligence, a team led by Insp. Pritam Behari (SHO, Anti-Narcotics) and including ASI Sanjay Yadav, PC Nanak Singh, PC Ratan Das, PC M. Raja Rao, and PC Vishal Kumar, recovered 850 Grams of Ganja from the RMS Parcel Hub, Postal Department, Port Blair. The Ganja was seized after observing all codal formalities.

Port Blair, Sept. 2: As part of the observance of 7th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, the ICDS Urban Project, South Andaman organized a rally today at Attam Pahad to highlight the significance of nutrition and healthy eating habits within the community. In addition to this, an awareness program on Anaemia was held at Bathu Basti 2 Anganwadi Centre. Smt. Kavitha Uday Kumar, Ward Councillor of Ward No. 24, Smt. Suchitra Mistry, LHV, Smt. Zarina Bibi, Child Development Project Officer, Urban Project, Mukhya Sevikas, NNM staff, and pregnant women and lactating mothers were present.

Pot Blair, Sept. 2: An awareness programme on ‘Women Helpline Scheme and WCD Control Room and its objectives’ was conducted by Women Helpline 181 under the Directorate of Social Welfare at Anganwadi Centre, Ward No.2 Haddo on Aug.31, 2024.

Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (SW), emphasised on the need to work towards a future where the safety and well-being of women and children are non-negotiable priorities. The integrated safety plan will comprise a system in which all women safety initiatives taken up jointly by the Women and child development control room.

Port Blair, Sept. 2: The 5 days Training–cum–Workshop on Ayushman Bharat, Health & Wellness Programme (AB-SHWP) for the HWAs (Health & Wellness Ambassadors) of all Govt. & Govt. Aided Schools of South Andaman District was organized by the Science Wing of the Directorate of Education in collaboration with the Local Health Department of A&N Administration at Govt. SSS School Line, Port Blair.
