Appeals Government to Provide Incentives and Investments for Developing Fisheries

Port Blair, Feb 8: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has raised the issue in the Parliament under Rule 377 on 05/02/2021 regarding development of fishery potential in Andaman & Nicobar Islands to generate employment and boost the economy of the Islands. He informed the House that the Andaman & Nicobar Islands have vast potential for fisheries development in view of its coastal length of about 1.962 kms and continental shelf area of 35,000 sq. kms. 

Port Blair, Feb 8: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands had met with Hon’ble Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smti. Smriti Irani at New Delhi on 05th February, 2021 and appraised her about the hardships facing by the ICDS employees of A&N Administration due to non-release of monthly salaries to the CDPO, Mukhya Sevikas, Senior Investigators, Statistical Assistants since September 2020 and also central share of honorarium to the 720 Anganwadi workers since June 2020 due to which these employees working in the Social Welfare department under A&N Administration are facing acute financial crisis situation day to day life.  

Port Blair, Feb 8: The Police Training School Prothrapur organized online short Courses on “Duties and Responsibilities of Beat Officer” and “Arrest & Bail- Condition Nuance and Concepts” on 05/02/2021 & 06/02/2021 respectively. The objectives of the course were to enhance knowledge among the Police Personnel and to make aware about the enforcement/implementation of better beat policing, concepts of Arrest and Bail etc. The session was inaugurated by Shri Michael Raj, DANIPS, Vice Principal PTS. Inspr. S K Sarkar and SI Abdul Manaf of PTS Prothrapur and SI Ellangowan, SHO PS Bambooflat, SI Pankaj Pandey PS Pahargaon delivered lectures during the courses.

Port Blair, Feb 8: Road safety gained more importance due to the ever increasing numbers of road accidents and other damages. Many proactive efforts are taken by the Govt. to reduce road accidents and have therefore decided to observe Road Safety Month for creating awareness among the road users.

Port Blair, Feb 8: The Directorate of Public Institutions, Govt. of Kerala has selected a Malayalam book entitled “Andaman Nicobarile Naadodikkathakal” (Folk tales of Andaman Nicobar) to distribute among the schools through an educational programme for the benefit of the students. The book is penned by Shri. Vijayan. C. K. Madappally, a former employee of the Fisheries Department.
