Port Blair, Sept. 21: An unidentified dead body in advance stage of decomposition was recovered by PS Aberdeen on 07/02/2020 from the sea of Phoenix Bay Jetty, Port Blair. An UDFIR vide No. 11/20 dated 07/02/2020, U/s 174 Cr.PC has been chalked out at PS Aberdeen and is being investigated. The dead body of the deceased is chemically preserved for identification.

Port Blair, Sept. 20: At about 0900 hrs on 19 Sep 20, Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), Port Blair received a COSPAS SARSAT distress alert originated by an inter-island cargo vessel named ‘MV Kottai Ramaiah. On receipt of information, MRCC Port Blair immediately launched multifarious swift Search and Rescue Mission. With due consideration to the criticality of the situation owing to prevailing cyclonic weather, without wasting any further time, Indian Coast Guard diverted CG aircraft which was on routine maritime surveillance for investigation and to access the situation. Meanwhile, MRCC staff made several attempts but was not able to establish any communication with the distressed vessel.

Port Blair, Sept. 20: The President, Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi (PBGKR) Mandeep Grewal had identified two Senior Citizens one Shri Sibakolluntu, aged 61 years and Shri Bera aged about 60 years. Both the senior citizens shared that they were abandoned by their family members and have been forced to survive by begging and sleeping on the streets.

Port Blair, Sept. 20: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to exempt the total number of 165 days lockdown period i.e. from 20.03.2020 to 31.08.2020 for the purpose of adherence to the time line prescribed for various purposes for the in-service and retired government servants of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration to enable them to utilise the same for availing the benefits entitled under relevant rules.
