Port Blair, July 15: The District Child Protection Unit South Andaman, under District Administration organized Cleanliness Drive at Chidiyatapu Beach on July 13 with the children of Child Care Institutions under Swachhta Action Plan. The objective behind the cleanliness campaign was to bring consciousness among the children about the importance of cleanliness and responsibility towards the environment so that every child should come forward for extending their helping hands in maintaining the surroundings by keeping them neat and clean.

Car Nicobar, July 14: Under a 100-day action plan, a 5-day skill development training program on ‘Harvesting Diversity: Coconut-based Intercropping with Spices and Tuber Crops’ began on July 10, 2024, at the Community Hall, Tapoiming Village. Smt. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Nicobar, inaugurated the program and praised the efforts of farmers such as Shri Patrick, Shri Suman, Shri Manish, and Shri Jaan Mohammed for their contributions to advancing intensive agricultural farming in Nicobar. Deputy Commissioner spoke about the potential of agricultural diversification and sustainable practices. She highlighted the profitability of intercropping spices and tubers in coconut farms. Shri Simon William, Second Captain of Tapoiming Village was the guest of honour. Dr. Santosh Kumar, Head of KVK Nicobar, welcomed the participants and emphasized the program's significance.

Port Blair, July 15: The Electricity Department has successfully implemented online bill payment services for the consumers of Car Nicobar, Campbell Bay, and Kamorta Islands. This initiative aims to provide a seamless bill payment experience and eliminate the need for physical visit to Site Offices for making payment. The Consumers of these Islands can conveniently pay their energy bills online through the UrjaPay portal “https://urjapay.andaman.gov.in” from 1st July, 2024 onwards. All the consumers in Car Nicobar, Campbell Bay, and Kamorta Islands have been encouraged to take advantage of this new service and experience the ease & convenience of online bill payments towards their energy.

Port Blair, July 14: Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) is a highly contagious and infectious disease of cloven hoofed animals such as cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats and pigs etc., Clinical & Visible signs includes high fever (104-106) degree Fahrenheit), loss of appetite and dullness, excessive salivation, vesicles in the mouth especially in the gums and tongue that result in ulcers, ulcers and wound in the hoof in the inter-digital space, blisters on teats, etc. FMD leads to reduction in milk-yield, decreased growth rate, infertility, etc.
