Port Blair, July 4: Megapode Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Self Help Group (SHG) has applied to the Department of CS&CA requesting to nominate its Society as authorized LPG distributor for Campbell Bay.

Port Blair, July 4: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind (speed 30-40 kmph) is likely to occur at one or two places over A&N Islands on July 5 & 6. Due to squally weather, the wind speed is likely to exceed 45 kmph over Southeast Bay and adjoining Andaman Sea. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea till July 6.

Port Blair, July 3: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands to start a second shift in various colleges to accommodate more and more students in this academic year.

In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament mentioned that as admissions are going on, a large number of students in our Islands eagerly apply for undergraduate courses in local colleges such as JNRM, ANCOL, MGGC and others but due to the limited number of available seats in these local colleges, only approximately half of the students are able to secure admissions. This situation compels the remaining students to seek undergraduate courses in mainland India, which often comes at a substantial financial burden. “A large number of students coming from remote Islands do not have a sound financial background to study in Mainland India,” he explained.

Port Blair, July 4: Candidates who have been shortlisted for the Group ‘B’ post of Lab Technician (Science) and Instructor (Mechanical Workshop) in DBRAIT have been informed to download their hall tickets from the portal http://erecruitment.andaman.gov.in/ from 06/07/2023 from 5 pm onwards.

Port Blair, July 3: The densely populated Phongy Kyong in the heart of the city, with narrow lanes and congested access has always been under major threat of natural and manmade calamities. There are around 2500 people viz. 470 families in a tiny area. Considering the unforeseen threat that may arise due to a fire outbreak, the Ward Councillor of the area, Shri Azizur Rahman had put forth the suggestion to cover the entire area using Fire Water Hydrant Pipelines before the Port Blair Municipal Council.
