New Delhi, Jan 13: Baakprotima, the only PRGI registered Bengali Little Magazine published from Andaman and Nicobar Islands celebrated its Silver Jubilee in New Delhi on Saturday, the 11th January 2025 through a get together held in the premises of Chittaranjan Bhavan, CR Park. A group of local Bengali writers attended the programme. Shri Mrinal Maity, a column writer from Purba Medinipur and Smt. Mousumi Roy, Social Activist from Kolkata graced the occasion as Special Guests.

Dr. Rohindra Lal President of A & N Islands Private Practicing Doctors Association inaugurated the Audiometry unit which is first of its kind in A & N Islands.
Dr A.P Bharadwaj Pediatrician, Dr. Tamalika Bharadwaj General Physician of Chirayu Hospital, Dr. Dinesh, Secretary of A & N Islands Private Practicing Doctors Association, Dr. Ritika Gupta, Dr. M.K Saha, Dr. Krishna Saha, Dr. Maneel patel, Dr. Aneekha ENT Specialist, Miss. Tiya audiologist were present on the occasion.

Pongal/ Makar Sankranti, one of the most cherished harvest festivals of India is a celebration of gratitude towards nature for a bountiful harvest. Observed with great enthusiasm in the Islands, this festival marks the beginning of Uttarayan, the sun's journey northwards. From preparing sweet Pongal/ Khichdi to decorating homes with kolams, the festival is a perfect blend of tradition, joy, and togetherness, the MP said in his message.
