Port Blair, April 17: In view of upcoming Parliamentary Election-2024 in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and in exercise of power conferred under M.V. Act 1988 (Act No.59 of 1988) read with Administration’s Notification No./2008/F.No.32-95/2008-TR. dated 10th  March, 2008, the District Magistrate, South Andaman has notified for the information of all concerned that the movement of all vehicular traffic shall be closed from Scout Hut Crossing (Rani Lakshmi Bai Hostel) to Andaman Club, Netaji Stadium till Y Nayaran Junction on 18.04.2024 from 0300 hrs till completion of the distribution of Polling Materials at Netaji Stadium.

Port Blair, April 17: The election schedule has been announced by the Election Commission of India, vide Press Note No.ECI/PN/23/2024 dated 16.03.2024 and No.ECI/PN/24/2024 dated 16.03.2024, which stipulates that the General Election of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency will be held in single phase on 19.04.2024 (Friday).

Port Blair, April 17: In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections-2024 in Andaman and Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency, the Zonal Anthropological Museum, Anthropological Survey of India, Andaman and Nicobar Regional Centre, Port Blair will be closed on April 19, 2024, to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the electoral process.

District Administration, South Andaman facilitates Free Pick Up and Drop Facility for Senior Citizens & Divyangjans

Port Blair, April 17: The District Administration, South Andaman has been taking many pro-active steps in reaching out to eligible voters especially senior citizens and divyangjans. In this regard, special drive was undertaken by facilitating postal ballots on 12.04.2024 and 13.04.2024 at their households. Auto and Taxi Associations were also sensitized and advised to provide free ride between their home and Polling Stations. All Polling Stations are made Divyang friendly by providing suitable ramps. Similarly, wheelchairs have also been made available in the Polling Stations.

Urges Eligible Voters to Come Out in Large Numbers and Exercise their Franchise

Port Blair, April 16: The Returning Officer, ANIPC, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS has urged the eligible voters of A&N Islands to come out in large numbers and exercise their franchise for a healthy democracy. The ANIPC is going for the Polls in the first phase of Lok Sabha Election-2024 on April, 19, 2024 and polling will be held from 7 am to 6 pm. all the eligible voters have been appealed to participate in the democratic process without fail, the RO said this during a press conference held in the District Office here today.
