Port Blair, Sept. 6: Ms. Nancy a resident of Malacca Village, Car Nicobar breathed her last in the evening hours on 5th Sept. 2020 at G.B. Pant Hospital. She was suffering from COVID-19 and was referred from Car Nicobar to Port Blair. Officially this is the first death from Car Nicobar Island.

Port Blair, Sept. 6: Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, announced the 4th edition of Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP) ranking of states on 5th September, 2020. Andaman & Nicobar Islands, improving its position from 31st in the last BRAP ranking, has been ranked 22nd, surpassing 14 States like Bihar, Kerala, Odisha and UTs like Dadra & N. Haveli, Puducherry, Chandigarh etc of mainland India.

Port Blair, Sept. 6: On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, on 5th Sept. 2020, the Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma felicitated 07 (seven) schools in Port Blair Tehsil, South Andaman District by presenting mementos as a token of appreciation. The schools were felicitated by the MP for achieving 100% result for Class Xth and XIIth in the Board examination conducted by CBSE during 2020 and for the benevolent services rendered by teachers for betterment of the students who are futures of A&N Islands and nation as well. The MP visited all the seven schools personally and felicitated them for the achievements. The seven schools are:

Chennai, Sept. 6: Ms. Judith Ravin has assumed the post of Consul General of the United States of America in Chennai as of September 6, 2020.
“It is my great privilege to represent the United States in South India, especially at this historically difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Consul General Ravin. “I look forward to advancing the shared goals of the United States and India in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and the three Union Territories of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry.”
