Port Blair, Aug 25: Andaman & Nicobar Forest Department Workers Union (CITU) has conducted a Mass Demonstration today (25.08.2023) at 4 p.m. in front of the office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests at Haddo, Port Blair demanding (i) continuous service for all Daily Rated Mazdoors of Forest Department (ii) Stop treating DRMs as Seasonal Workers (iii) Grant 1/30th of pay to all DRMs of Forest Department (v) Regularise the services of all DRMs of Forest Department, etc. Hundreds of workers of Forest Department working at Port Blair and rural South Andaman areas participated in the mass demonstration.  

Port Blair, Aug 25: The Parliamentary Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes headed by its Chairman, Dr. Kirit Premjibhai Solanki, currently on visit to these Islands, held meeting with the Chief Secretary and other Senior Officials of A&N Administration with regard to the socio- economic conditions of SCs/STs and other welfare measures undertaken by Social Welfare/Tribal Welfare Departments of the A&N Administration at Hotel Lemon Tree on 25.08.2023.

Port Blair, Aug 25: The ANTCC President, Shri. Rangalal Halder has expressed concerns regarding the current state of the Vessel Services of MV Campbell Bay provided by Shipping Department for the route between Port Blair and Little Andaman.

He stated that the journey of the MV Campbell Bay duration is quite lengthy for up to 11 Hours though it usually takes 6-7 hours in other vessels. He mentioned that fans in MV Campbell Bay are not functioning properly, leading to an uncomfortable and suffocating environment for passengers during their journey.
