Mobile voting teams commence home voting across the Islands for 85+, PwD Voters

Port Blair, April 12: As per the directions of Election Commission of India, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency today (April12) started the special poll procedures for voting by postal ballot by certain category of citizens such as absentee voters/senior citizen above 85 yrs age/persons with disability above 40% category.

The District Election Officers of the three Districts of the A & N Islands had made extensive exercise to cover all such special category of voters and altogether 436 persons in all the three Districts shall be voting by postal ballots through home voting. Schedule for home voting has been drawn and the Mobile Polling Teams comprising of Presiding Officers, Polling Officers, Micro Observers, BLO, Sector Officer, Police Personnel and Videographers were deputed for Home voting of eligible voters on 12.04.2024 to 13.04.2024. One day has been kept as reserved on 14.04.2024, in case of non-availability of voter at their home during the scheduled visit.

Car Nicobar, April 12: The General Observer for ANI Parliamentary Constituency, Shri Brajesh Narain Singh, IAS unveiled ‘MEGHA’ the Election Mascot of Lok Sabha Election 2024 as part of SVEEP activities in Nicobar District yesterday at Edward Kuchat Park, Car Nicobar in the presence of Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, District Election Officer, Nicobars District/(DC Nicobars) and Shri Piyush Singh (AC (HQ)) and other officers. The mascot ‘MEGHA’ is a Nicobar Megapode Bird, which is a very famous unique bird of Nicobars District. Like other megapode relatives, it builds a large mound nest with soil and vegetation and hatches its eggs with the heat produced by decomposition.

Port Blair, April 12: All concerned have been informed that the Election Commission of India has notified the period between 7 am on 19th April, 2024 (Friday) and 6.30 pm on 1st June, 2024 (Saturday) as the period during which conducting and publishing or publicising exit poll by means of the print or electronic media or dissemination in manner whatsoever, the result of any exit in connection with the General Elections-2024, shall be prohibited.  

Port Blair, April 12: In view of the ongoing General Election-2024, the Election Commission of India has conducted a Video Conference with Central Observers today to review the poll preparedness and other necessary activities. The Observers play a very important role in conducting free and fair election.
