Port Blair, July 30: In an unfortunate incident, Lieutenant Amogh Bapat of the Indian Navy died on 25th  Jul 21 in the massive landslide near Basteri bridge in Sangla Valley of Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh. The 27 year old bright and jovial officer was posted at Indian Naval Ship Baaz (INS Baaz), Campbell Bay, which is the southernmost Naval Air Station in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He was an Air Engineer and was recently awarded with On the Spot Commendation by Lieutenant General Ajai Singh, AVSM, Commander-in-Chief Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN) for high standards of professionalism and dedication.

Port Blair, July 30: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, A & N Islands demanded immediate appointment on compassionate ground for dependents of Govt. employees who died in harness after the outbreak of Covid-19. In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Shri T.S.Sreekumar, General Secretary of the Association expressed serious concern over the sufferings of the family members of the govt. employee who had died due to pandemic or post Covid complications.

Diglipur, July 30: The Ayurveda Unit of Dr R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder conducted a joint programme on 29th July, 2021 at SP Office, North & Middle Andaman District, Mayabunder, aimed at handling COVID-19 through ayurvedic remedies as immunity boosting measures. Ayurvedic medicines were distributed to the police personnel during this programme.

Port Blair, July 30: Central Crime Station in its continuous crackdown against bootlegging in A&N Islands once again proved its mettle by arresting two persons and recovering 64 bottles of IMFL.

Acting on a specific intelligence regarding possession as well as transfer of huge quantity of IMFL by one S.Ravi R/o Nayagaon, a raiding team intercepted S. Ravi and R. Radhakrishnan, who is driver of vehicle in which IMFL was being carried and recovered 64 bottles of IMFL from their possession and arrested on 28/07/2021.

Port Blair, July 30: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 2, 94,560 beneficiaries have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands, out of the target beneficiaries of 2, 81, 603 (approx.). A total of 2556 people were vaccinated today in A&N Islands. A total of 92,438 eligible people in the age group of 18 to 44 years have been vaccinated till date.
