Port Blair, March 26: As a part of zero tolerance towards encroachment the District Administration of South Andaman carried out eviction drives against encroachments committed over Govt. Land in South Andaman District in Corbyn’s Cove village under Port Blair Tehsil and restored an area of 10000 Sq. mtrs. of Govt. Land into Govt. Khata.
During the eviction drive 10 structures were removed. Some of the encroachers had grabbed areas marked with fencing and had plantations in the encroachment. All such fencing and plantations were removed and land restored to government khata.

Port Blair, March 25: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma on Wednesday raised the issue of providing job security to the Casual workers and payment of 'Equal Pay for Equal Work' to all the Daily Rates Mazdoors engaged in various departments of Andaman and Nicobar Administration.
Addressing the Hon'ble Speaker in the Parliament the MP said that in Andaman & Nicobar Islands there were around 7000 workers engaged by various departments of A&N Administration on daily wage basis continuously for past several years. Since these workers were entrusted with regular nature of works, similar to that being done by regular employees, the A&N Administration in the year 2017 took a policy decision to pay daily wage equal to 1/30th of the pay at the minimum of the relevant pay scale plus dearness allowance for work of 8 hours a day to casual workers engaged on Daily Wage basis from September 2017.

Port Blair, March 25: The Administration endeavours to protect Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) and keep them safe from COVID-19 pandemic. Keeping this in mind, the Administration has taken a number of proactive steps especially restriction of convoy in the Andaman Trunk Road passing through Jarawa reserve to contain spread of COVID-19 infection among the tribes especially Jarawa tribes who are more exposed to non-tribal passing through Andaman Trunk Road (ATR) and fishermen on the west coast.
The Administration has now decided to re-schedule the convoy timing from 29.3.2021 onwards for the ease of general public.

Port Blair, March 25: The ICDS employees and Anganwadi workers continued their protest on the 2nd day today of the indefinite agitation called against the non-payment of salary/honorarium to them for the last 07 months under the banner of NGOs’ Association. The employees started their movement of “Work with Hunger” by boycotting their lunch while remaining on duty for the whole day and participated in the protest demonstration in front of the Directorate of Social Welfare in the evening after duty hours.

Port Blair, March 25: The District Level Centre for Women (DLCW), under District Administration, South Andaman and State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) under Directorate of Social Welfare in collaboration with Directorate of Health Service will be organizing an Awareness cum Enrolment Campaign on all cash benefit women centric schemes. The Schemes include Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Dulari Scheme, Janani Suraksha Yojana, Old Age Pension, Widow Pension etc. which will be organised at the Community Hall Wandoor on 31st March from 10:30 am onwards.
