Port Blair, Feb. 10: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,05,853 beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands. Similarly, 22,981 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years against the target beneficiaries of 23,000.The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 7551.

Member of Parliament Suggests Setting up of Power Storage/Backup Units for Solar Plants
Port Blair, Feb 9: The Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Administration to direct the Electricity Department to plan setting up power storage/backup units in all solar plants to deal with frequent power cut problem in South Andaman area.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Member of Parliament mentioned that frequent power cuts are causing serious inconvenience to the public and many islands have already suffered losses due to damage of their electrical appliances due to such power cuts, which numbers around 10-12 power cuts in day.

Port Blair, Feb. 10: During the RT-PCR test conducted on 142 passengers who arrived here yesterday, 3 positive cases have been detected. Today, 10 flights with 1326 passengers arrived, out of which,1061passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 246 passengers (11foreign travellers) and the reports are awaited.
During RAT conducted on 52 passengers bound for North & Middle Andaman at Ferrargunj, no positive case has been detected. At Mohanpura Bus Terminus, test was conducted on 50 passengers, no positive case have been detected. At Phoenix Bay Jetty, 35 passengers were tested with RAT, no positive case has been detected. RT-PCR was conducted on 14 crew members of MV Strait Island, the report of which is awaited. Today, till 3pm, 1259 eligible beneficiaries were vaccinated.

Port Blair, Feb. 9: 'Catch the Rain' initiative for rain water harvesting was launched by the Ministry of Jal Shakti with the tagline 'catch the rain, where it falls, when it falls’ to conserve rainwater. As part of this campaign, Raj Niwas, Port Blair has installed six Rainwater Harvesting Tanks (RWH), 3 of which have a capacity of 5 lakh litres each and with a total storage capacity of 15,28,000 litres. As per the prevailing charges of PBMC, the total storage capacity of water is equivalent to worth Rs. 3,89,640.00/-
