Port Blair, Oct. 16: During the visit of Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman to Shaheed Dweep, the people of the area reported about the encroachment of Govt. land. Based on the complaints, DC (SA) ensuring zero tolerance towards encroachment immediately issued strict direction to Revenue officials to remove the encroachment. Accordingly, the Revenue field functionaries carried out encroachment eviction drive at Shaheed Dweep under Port Blair Tehsil today. Fresh encroachment committed in the shape of temporary structure near natural bridge at Lakshmanpur village in Shaheed Dweep were removed and an area of 0.06 ha has been restored into the Govt. Khata.

Port Blair, Oct. 15: Firing practice by CG Dornier will be carried out from 1400-1600 hrs on Oct.27 & 28, 2022. The safe flying height is above 6000 feet AMSL.  All concerned have been warned to keep themselves and their vessels/fishing boat away from the firing range during the above mentioned date and time.

Port Blair, Oct. 16: Two COVID positive cases have been detected today in A&N Islands from incoming flight passengers who arrived here yesterday. Today, 13 flights with 1842 passengers arrived, out of which, 1652 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 148 passengers and the reports are awaited.  

Port Blair, Oct. 16: Heavy rain (07-11 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over A&N Islands on Oct. 17, 18, 19 & 20.  Meanwhile, due to squally weather, wind speed is likely to exceed 45 kmph over Andaman Sea along and off Andaman and Nicobar coasts. Fishermen have been not to venture into the sea from Oct.18 till Oct. 20. Port Blair, Oct. 14: The Hon’ble Special Judge Shri Raja Chatterjee on 13th October 2022 convicted one accused persons namely Mithun Sikder, resident of Durgapur Village, Diglipur in a sexual assault case committed by him against a minor girl then aged 11 years.
