Port Blair, Feb 4: The Andaman Association of Tour Operators has called upon the Secretary Tourism, A&N Administration to extend the time frame of RT-PCR Test for the incoming passengers from the present 48 hours to 72 hours.

In a letter the Secretary Tourism, the President AATO, Shri M Vinod that currently, the time limit for RT-PCR test before coming to the islands is within 48 hrs before the departure time for the flight to Port Blair. It is our humble request that the same may be increased to within 72 hours before the departure time for two prime reasons:

Port Blair, Feb 4: In a significant step towards realising the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s dream of ‘Housing for All by 2022’, the Department of Rural Development, A&N Administration has been persistently implementing the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin, the flagship scheme of the Government of India across the Islands. The scheme aims at providing a pucca house with basic amenities inclusive of a hygienic cooking space, functional toilet to the houseless and those living in kutcha houses. Under PMAY-G, beneficiaries are provided unit assistance of Rs.1.2 lakh along with 90 mandays of unskilled labour through convergence with Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). Additionally, an incentive of Rs.12000/- for construction of toilets through convergence with Swachh Bharat Mission – Gramin (SBM-G) is also provided to the beneficiaries.

Port Blair, Feb 4: The State Unit of Kesariya Hindu Vahini met Shri Y Satya Kumar, National Secretary BJP & Prabhari A&N Islands, led by its President Shri Diptendu Dasgupta. The team handed over a charter of points pertaining to welfare of Islanders, which needs immediate attention. 

Port Blair, Feb 4: Andaman & Nicobar Islands UTGST Department conducted search and seizure operation in Swaraj Dweep Islands on 5 Hotels & Resorts. During Search and Inspection, it was found that these firms are huge tax defaulters and are indulged in several tax-evasion activities varying from wrong availment of Input Tax Credit; Non-payment of tax to the government; non-filing/delayed filing of the mandatory statutory returns without paying appropriate returns and mis-declaration under the head zero-rated supplies which pertains to export of goods and services in order to evade tax.

Port Blair, Feb 4: The Kala Kendra Society under the Department of Art & Culture, A&N Administration will be conducting seven days Mime Workshop from 12th – 18th February 2021 at Andaman Club from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm. The intake capacity of the workshop is for 25 participants only. First 25 participants will be considered for participation in the workshop.
