Teressa, Dec. 8: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has handed-over a Dead Body Freezer Box to the Tribal Council of Teressa Island purchased from the MPLADS fund.

Port Blair, Dec. 8: The CPI (M) has demanded for a Special Drive to fill up backlog vacancies of ST reserved posts in various departments under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration. In a letter sent to the Lt. Governor, A & N Islands, Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee said that nearly one thousand posts of various categories in different departments under the A&N Administration are lying vacant for quite a long time.  Shri Ayyappan stated in his letter that no effort has been made by the Administration to fill up these backlog vacancies reserved for ST candidates while hundreds of unemployed Nicobarese youths are waiting for a job.  He further stated that since the tribal reserved posts do not attract the ban on filling up of vacant posts, the Administration should have taken proper steps to fill up these vacancies.

Port Blair, Dec. 8: Zoological Survey of India is organizing three-day workshop on Coastal and Marine Biodiversity of Island ecosystems under the ‘Training of Personnel of other Stakeholders’ sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, GoI. Dr. Dhriti Banerjee, Director, Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata was the chief guest, while Shri Hari Kallikkat, IAS, Secretary (IP&T), Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Dr. M. Vinod Kumar, Fishery Survey of India, and Dr. Lal Ji Singh, Head-of-Office were the guests of honour. The programme was also attended by Officers from different Departments and institutions.

Port Blair, Dec. 8: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands express deep condolence on the demise of Comrade K.K.N. Kutty, former Secretary General of Confederation of Central Government Employees & Workers today (08.12.2022) morning at 9.30a.m. after prolonged illness.

Comrade KKN Kutty was a great Trade Union Leader, orator and a highly knowledgeable person. He led the Central Govt. Employees and Workers movement for decades and spear headed several agitational programmes against the anti-employees and anti-working class policies of the government at the centre. The unexpected demise of Com Kutty is a great loss for CG Employees and Workers movement and the entire working class in the country.
