Port Blair, June 30: Heavy rain (07- 11 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands and thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind (speed 30-40 kmph) is also likely to occur at one or two places over A&N Islands on July 1 & 2. Due to squally weather, wind speed exceeding 45 kmph is likely to prevail over Southeast Bay and adjoining Andaman Sea. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea till July 4.

Port Blair, June 30: All the eligible PDS beneficiaries of this UT have been informed that the PDS foodgrains shall be distributed in advance for 2 months for July, 2023 to August, 2023 in one go in the entire UT in the month of July, 2023. All the ration card holders have been informed that they can purchase the foodgrains as per their entitlement for 2 months in one go between July 1 to Aug. 31, 2023.     However, the Ration Card Holders who are not able to lift ration in the month   of July, 2023   can   also   lift   their   foodgrains   in   the   month   of August, 2023.

Port Blair, June 28: CPI (M) has demanded withdrawal of the decision of Port Blair Municipal Council to impose the user fee for collection of garbage/waste from households. In a letter sent to the Secretary, PBMC with copies to the Administration and Chairman, PBMC, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee drew the attention of the PBMC to the Public Notice dated 23rd June, 2023 published by it informing the decision of the Municipal Council to impose a user fee for collection of garbage/waste from the households at the Port Blair town. As per the said Public Notice, each household or establishment has to pay a user fee to pick up garbage/waste from their doorstep.  CPI (M) noted that each household has to pay a sum of Rs. 50 per month for segregated waste while for non-segregated waste it is Rs. 1000 per month. This is in addition to the Conservancy Charge each individual is paying at present for living in the Port Blair Municipal area.

Port Blair, June 30: General consumers and Government Departments have been informed that power supply will remain suspended at Junglighat Milk Booth area, Junglighat Durga Pooja Pandal area, AYUSH Hospital area on July 1 from 0730 hrs to 1300 hrs in connection with urgent maintenance of T&D lines near Junglighat junction area.

Port Blair, June 28: Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice–Chairman, Islands Development Agency alongwith Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS & senior Officers of A&N Administration reviewed the next phase of Holistic Development Package IV comprising eleven sites in A&N Islands through ANIIDCO today at Raj Niwas.
