The Non-Gazetted Government Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands condoles the demise of Shri Anand Prakash IAS, former Chief Secretary of A& N Islands during the period 2012-2016.He was settled at Dehradun, Uttarakhand after his retirement and was undergoing treatment for cancer. The Association recalls many initiatives by him for the welfare of employees during his tenure as the Chief Secretary of the Islands. The Association conveys heartfelt grief at his untimely death.

Port Blair, April 20: Despite the robust vaccination drive being carried out by the Administration in different parts of A&N Islands besides significant increase in the number of testing and strict enforcement of COVID-19 appropriate behavior by Police & concerned authorities, the Islands are witnessing a steep rise in the number of COVID positive cases. A large number of positive cases are seen in the passengers coming from mainland. There have also been some reports of tampering with RTPCR negative report by the incoming passengers and the Administration has lodged FIR against such errant passengers.
In view of this, it was deemed necessary by the Administration to take proactive steps in order to protect the lives of the children, senior citizens and residents of these Islands. The Administration after reviewing the situation arising due to consistent rise in the number of COVID cases has announced measures to contain spread of COVID-19 cases in the Islands.

Sanjay Kumar Singh Takes up the Matter with CS and Shipping Secretary
Port Blair, April 20: Sanjay Kumar Singh, State Vice President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands under the leadership and instruction from Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party today met the Chief Secretary and requested him for immediate ship sailings to the Southern Group of Islands.
Sanjay Kumar Singh also wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary in which he stated that large number of residents of the Southern Group of Islands i.e. Hutbay, Car Nicobar, Nancowry and Campbell Bay are stuck at Port Blair because of non-availability of Shipping Services since long.

Port Blair, April 20: The increase in the number of corona positive cases in A&N Islands is a matter of great concern and poses a great challenge for the Administration despite the best efforts to contain the spread of the virus. Further, the Administration is putting its best efforts from all quarters to arrest the spread of corona virus and to minimize the positive cases in A&N Islands, said the Secretary, IP&T, Shri Sunil Kumar Singh addressing a COVID-19 media briefing in the conference hall of IP&T today. He once again reiterated the need to strictly adhere to COVID-19 protocol and urged the people to follow COVID appropriate behavior.

Guru Ki Rasoi Arranges for Iftar
Port Blair, April 20: As part of the initiative of the District Administration to get people above the age group of 45 vaccinated, a special COVID vaccination camp was organised at Community Hall, Malappuram in the presence of Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA), Shri Hari Kallikkat, SDM (SA) and Ms. B. Yashaswini, AC (U/T).
The camp held in the holy month of Ramzan had a huge response from all walks of the society. The drive was successfully held with the cooperation of the staffs of the PHC Wimberlygunj led by Dr. Ankita Benerjee. As part of the camp, Iftar was also arranged for the gathering by the NGO Guru Ki Rasoi undertaking all COVID protocols.
