Port Blair, April 16: In view of recent surge in the positive cases of COVID – 19 in this Island and to contain the further spread of virus to other Islands, this Directorate in consultation with A&N Administration has decided to curtail/ restrict the frequency of sailing schedules in the Foreshore Sector (Swaraj Dweep & Shaheed Dweep).
The Directorate of Shipping Services has drawn a new schedule for Swaraj Dweep & Shaheed Dweep which will be effective from 19th April, 2021.
The newly drawn schedule is as follows:-

Port Blair, April 16: Walking with a thought of ‘No one sleeps without a meal’, PBGKR came forward to provide meals to the fishermen of Hutbay who have been stranded in Port Blair. The fishers were in quarantine at Zilla Parishad Niwas and are in Port Blair since a month spending whatever they had. The condition of the fishers was such that they weren’t able to afford a single meal with no money left with them.

Port Blair, April 16: The Port Blair Municipal Council has allowed Self Help Group for collection & transportation of segregated waste from commercial sectors in compliance with the Port Blair Municipal Council-Solid Waste (Handling & Management) Rule 2017, in accordance with the Solid Waste Management Rule 2016. The Self Help Groups engaged in the Solid Waste Management system were registered under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM).

Port Blair, April 16: In the line of Atma Nirbhar Bharat Campaign and implementation of PM SAVNidhi scheme, the PBMC distributed 211 Certificates of vending (CoV) to validated Street Vendors at a function organized at the Conference hall of PBMC. Shri. Kishore Kshirsagar Lakshman, IAS Secretary (PBMC) graced the occasion and enlightened the vendors about the benefits of PM SVANidhi.

Airline Operators Asked to Ensure Mandatory RAT Test for All Incoming Passengers
Port Blair, April 15: The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District, Shri. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS and Shri. Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District convened a meeting with all the Airline Operators of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and stressed the need to take urgent action to curb the surge of COVID cases in the District. It was briefed that strict and vigilant protocols are required at the Veer Savarkar International Airport.
