Port Blair, May 7: A COVID-19 prevention and vaccination drive was organised by District Administration, South Andaman and Directorate of Health services at Manglutan opposite Ganesh Mandir. The volunteers of Hindu Rasthra Shakti participated in the drive. Social worker of Guptapara Shri Prakash Adhikari had the area sanitized and all arrangements made.
The members of the HRS team comprising Shri Amar Kumar Singh, Shri Rakeshwar Lal, Shri Angshuman Roy, Shri Sandeep Biswas, Shri Sanjay Kumar, Smti Savitri and Shri Dheeraj put all their efforts to make this program successful by campaigning for the vaccination of those who are left out. The team did door to door survey and created awareness about the Importance of Vaccination. Some private vehicles and Govt. STS busses were arranged for pick up & drop of the public.

Port Blair, May 6: The A&N Administration is devising a strategy to provide relief to the causal workers who are working in non-essential services and are in need of relief during this pandemic period, said the Secretary (Labour & Employment), Shri Krishan Kumar while addressing a COVID-19 media briefing in the conference hall of IP&T today. He said that the employees working in shops and other establishments can lodge their grievances pertaining to non-payment of wages, deduction of wages and irregular payment by the employer. The Secretary further disclosed that to provide relief to such employees, a Control Room with no. 03192-233138 is functioning in Labour Commissioner Office from 8.30 am to 7 pm during which the employees can report the grievances detailing the name and address of the employer. As soon as the grievance is received, the Inspectors of the Labour Department will take up the matter with the concerned shop owner/establishments and find a solution to the issues raised, the Secretary added.

Port Blair, May 6: The vaccination drive is continuing in A&N Islands in an effective manner and health teams designated in various vaccination centres spread across the Islands are vaccinating all the beneficiaries above 45, who visit the centres spread over the A&N Islands on a daily basis. The vaccination sessions are continuing in more than 88 designated vaccination centres set up in different parts of the Islands towards the fight against Corona virus. 1112 doses of COVISHIELD vaccines were administered to the eligible beneficiaries by the health teams today (May 6), taking the total number of doses of vaccines administered so far to 1,12,931 .

Port Blair, May 6: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has requested Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to provide a cargo boat to Little Andaman to bring the produce of the farmers like coconut, copra, arecanut to Port Blair which is more than 70 containers. He said that if their produce is not sold on proper time, these poor farmers will have to bear heavy loss because their produce like copra cannot be stored for a longer period of time which will shrink and lose its weight and the profit margin of the farmers will be curtailed. And because of lockdown there is no other source of income for them.

Port Blair, May 4: There is sufficient buffer stock of PDS items and non-PDS commodities in A&N Islands and the Administration is constantly monitoring the supply of essential commodities in all the three Districts of A&N Islands. This was stated by the Secretary, IP&T, Shri Sunil Kumar Singh while addressing media persons on COVID-19 in the conference hall of IP&T today. He said, the Administration is also monitoring the supply of LPG and Petroleum products in the Islands. It is in constant touch with the Shipping companies also, to transport the essential items from Chennai & Kolkata which is being monitored constantly so that the supply of essential commodities reaches the Islands on regular basis during this pandemic situation.
