Port Blair, July 14: The A&N State Chess Championship 2024 cum selection Trials for Nationals which commenced on 13.07.2024 at ITI Campus Dollygunj, Port Blair concluded today evening. The event was organised by Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA).

A record-breaking turnout of 330 chess players in the age group of 4 to 68 years participated with great enthusiasm. This is by far the largest chess tournament in the history of the A&N Islands, including the participation from all the three districts of A & N Islands.

Port Blair, July 14: Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman & Secretary (Rural Development) made a field visit and conducted camp court at Shoalbay Gram Panchayat, the remotest panchayat in the Ferrargunj Tehsil, on 13th July 2024. The Pradhan along with PRIs members and Revenue Officials were part of the visit.

Port Blair, July 14: In a continued and determined effort to combat drug-related activities, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station executed a successful Anti-Narcotics operation on July 12, 2024.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a dedicated Police Team from the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, led by SI Mohd Rahil Islam Anti-Narcotics Police Station carried out this operation which included PC Ratan Das, PC M. Raja Rao, PC Vishal and LPC Nandita Mistry. The operation was conducted under the overall leadership of Shri Vishesh Dhatterwal, DANIPS, Dy.SP, Narcotics.

Despite the adverse weather conditions, with heavy rains making the task challenging, PBMC sanitation staff displayed remarkable dedication and effort to ensure the success of this initiative.
