Port Blair, Aug 17: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary A&N Administration to resume extraction of quarry products from quarries of N&M Andaman to minimize the sufferings of the residents and give momentum to economic activities in the region.

Port Blair, Aug. 17: Sahitya Akademi, Ministry of Culture, New Delhi has requested the Administration to recommend a panel of three veterans in the field of literature for nomination of one member in the General Council of Sahitya Akademi.  The term of the General Council is five years and the newly elected General Council shall come into force w.e.f. 01.01.2023.  

Port Blair, Aug 17: CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee has decided to conduct a Party Fund Collection for raising a fund for the proper running of the party from 16th August to 15th September, 2022 throughout Andaman & Nicobar Islands.  Shri Pronob Banerjee, senior leader inaugurated the Party Fund Collection at Port Blair by paying an amount to Party Fund. On the occasion, Shri SP Kalairajan, CPI (M) State Organising Committee Member also donated an amount to the Party Fund.  

Port Blair, Aug. 17: The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME) has conveyed some modifications in the existing Prime Minister’s Employment Generation scheme. The main objective of the PMEGP scheme is to generate employment opportunities in rural as well as urban areas of the country through setting up of new self-employment ventures/projects/micro enterprises. The maximum cost of the project/unit admissible for margin money subsidy under manufacturing sector has been increased from Rs. 25 lakhs to Rs. 50 lakhs whereas the same has been increased from Rs. 10 lakhs to Rs. 20 lakhs for Services/trading sector with a Govt. Subsidy upto 35% of the total project cost.

Port Blair, Aug 17: The team of Revenue field functionaries carried out inspection of the road between Bhathubasti and Sippighat, where from several complaints were received as regards congestion of roads owing to dumping of construction materials and debris resulting in hindrance to free flow of vehicular movement besides inconvenience to the commuters. Roadside dumping of such building materials and threat to lives of pedestrians.
