Port Blair, Aug. 18: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,94,933 doses of vaccine have been administered to beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above so far. Similarly, 23932 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years. 27, 788 beneficiaries in the age group of 12 to 14 years have been administered both doses of vaccine. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 186389.

Port Blair, Aug. 18: Eight positive cases have been detected today in A&N Islands. Today, 9 flights with 1406 passengers arrived, out of which, 1265 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 101 passengers and the reports are awaited.  

Port Blair, Aug. 17: Sahitya Akademi, Ministry of Culture, New Delhi has requested the Administration to recommend a panel of three veterans in the field of literature for nomination of one member in the General Council of Sahitya Akademi.  The term of the General Council is five years and the newly elected General Council shall come into force w.e.f. 01.01.2023.  

Port Blair, Aug 17: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary A&N Administration to resume extraction of quarry products from quarries of N&M Andaman to minimize the sufferings of the residents and give momentum to economic activities in the region.

Port Blair, Aug. 17: The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME) has conveyed some modifications in the existing Prime Minister’s Employment Generation scheme. The main objective of the PMEGP scheme is to generate employment opportunities in rural as well as urban areas of the country through setting up of new self-employment ventures/projects/micro enterprises. The maximum cost of the project/unit admissible for margin money subsidy under manufacturing sector has been increased from Rs. 25 lakhs to Rs. 50 lakhs whereas the same has been increased from Rs. 10 lakhs to Rs. 20 lakhs for Services/trading sector with a Govt. Subsidy upto 35% of the total project cost.
