Port Blair, Sept. 1: Every year the 16th September is observed as World Ozone Day, is also known as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. The date was designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 1994, commemorating the date in 1987 when nations signed the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.

This special day aims to draw attention of everyone on this planet towards the usefulness of ozone layer, how it protects us from UV rays and how we need to protect it from damaging chemicals. The theme of World Ozone Day 2023 is “Montreal Protocol: fixing the ozone layer and reducing climate change”.

Port Blair, Sept. 1: The Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs being the State Registrar for Enrolment & Updation of Aadhaar in this Union Territory is committed to provide Aadhaar services to all the residents in this UT in hassle free manner.

As on date, the Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs has established 9 Permanent Enrolment Centres viz. 5 at Port Blair, 1 each at Mayabunder, Diglipur, Rangat & Nicobar. In order to cover the left out residents Special Aadhaar Camps are being conducted in the remotest areas of these Islands. As on date, 432 Nos. of camps have been organized in this UT.

Port Blair, Sept. 1: The Electricity Department with the assistance of C-DAC, Chennai in association with DBRAIT, Port Blair has conducted Computer Based Examination (CBT) to fill-up 51 vacancies of various categories of post under different Department of A&N Administration on 27.06.2023 and 28.06.2023.

Based on the evaluation of the Answers by the C-DAC, the statement of scores secured by the candidates received from C-DAC through DBRAIT has already been uploaded in the official website of A&N Administration i.e. www.andaman.gov.in & https://erecruitment.andaman.gov.in/crap/. In order to prepare the selected and reserve panel /waitlisted candidates, the verification of the documents and fulfilment of other terms & conditions of appointment needs to be carried out.

Port Blair, Sept. 1: All concerned candidates who have applied for allotment of various Professional/ Technical/ Non-Technical courses reserved at mainland institutions for the academic session 2023-24 have been informed that the counselling for the surrendered seats viz. 1. B.Sc (Horticulture)- 3 seats, B.Tech (Food Technology) -1 seat, General Nursing (Science Stream) - 1 seat, B.E (ECE) Lateral Entry-1 seat and B.E (Mechanical) Lateral Entry-1 seat will be held on 06.09.2023 at 3.30 pm in the Conference Hall of Secretariat, Port Blair.
