On the occasion of National Sports Day, I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to all Islanders. This day is a tribute to the spirit of sportsmanship, determination, and unity that resonates across our nation and beyond. National Sports Day celebrates the importance of sports in our daily lives and is observed on the birth anniversary of sporting legend Major Dhyan Chand who is also known as 'Wizard of Hockey'.

On the occasion of ONAM Festival, I extend my best wishes to all Malayalees living in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Let us pledge to strengthen the values of equality, peace and fraternity to build an exploitation-free social order.

Port Blair, Aug. 28: As part of Monsoon Tourism Festival, the Tourism Department, A & N Administration had organized a digital open ‘Rain Photography Competition’ during the month of July, 2023.  Entries to the Rain Photography competition was kept open for all. The concept for organizing such competition was not only to celebrate the artistry and technical skills of photographers, but also to promote an appreciation for the beauty of rain. The shortlisted photos of the participants were uploaded in the Social Media accounts of the Directorate i.e. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TourismDeptANI/ and Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/andamantourismofficial/ for likes till 10th  Aug, 2023. 

Port Blair, Aug. 28: As part of 150th birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo, the Department of Art & Culture and Kala Kendra Society organized a programme on the life & teachings of Sri Aurobindo at the Tagore Government College of Education today. The objective of the programme was to create awareness among youth about Sri Aurobindo's teachings. As part of the programme, Trainees of TGCE, Shri Pritish and Vinod spoke on the life and teachings of Sri Aurobindo and his role in the Indian freedom struggle.

Port Blair, Aug. 28: Due to technical reasons, the scheduled sailing programme of the vessel MV Campbell Bay for Port Blair on 29.08.2023 at 0700 hrs from Little Andaman has been cancelled. However, to facilitate the commuters of Little Andaman, the Directorate of Shipping Services has scheduled the sailing programme of the vessel Nalanda which will sail for Little Andaman on 30.08.2023 at 1200 hrs from Haddo Wharf and will sail back to Port Blair on the same day at 2100 hrs from Little Andaman.
