Diglipur, Dec. 18: Police Station Diglipur once again showed their mettle and are going tough against drug peddlers. Keeping sharp vigil over antisocial activities under the jurisdiction on 17/12/22 an information was received regarding an auto driver carrying huge quantity of illicit ganja in his Auto rickshaw. A raiding team comprising Inspr. Vikash Singh, SHO PS Diglipur, SI Abdul Shakil, HC (IRBn) Santosh Nair, PC’s Devsai Toppo, Santosh Lal, Abubacker Siddique, Samaresh Mistry, & HG(D) Mari Kani was constituted and the team intercepted the auto rickshaw bearing AN 01 K 8522 near Subashgram bridge and recovered 1.068 Kgs of ganja from driver Biswajit Mondal S/o Late Ghanashyam Mondal, (37) yrs. Auto Driver R/o Madhupur, Diglipur. A case under appropriate section of NDPS Act was registered against the auto driver and accused was arrested. The dedication and hard work of the raiding team of PS Diglipur resulted in seizure of such huge quantity of ganja.  

Port Blair, Dec. 18: In order to spread road safety awareness among the commercial vehicle owners & drivers, a road safety awareness programme was conducted on 17.12.2022 at PS Aberdeen Conference Hall by A&N Traffic Police. The Dy.SP (Traffic), Police Personnel and about 100 drivers & members of various Bus/Truck/Van/Auto union have participated in this programme.

Port Blair, Dec. 18: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair South Andaman organized training cum critical input distribution programme at Adazig and Baratang villages on 15.12.2022 under cluster front line demonstration (CFLD) centrally sponsored by NFSM scheme. The main objective of the programme is to improve the production and productivity of pulses in our islands on a sustainable basis.

Hut Bay, Dec. 18: A training programme on “Scientific interventions on livestock farming for livelihood security of Tribal farmers” was organized by ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair at Harminder Bay village, Little Andaman on 10-12th December. Dr. P.A. Bala, Dr. Arun Kumar De, Dr. P. Perumal, Dr. K. Muniswamy and Dr. Ashish Kumar, Senior Veterinary Officer, Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services imparted the training programme.

Port Blair, Dec. 18: The Department of Fisheries, A&N Administration proposes to implement the components ‘Support for Acquisition of Deep Sea Fishing Vessels (FRP/Steel) for Traditional Fishermen’ of A & N Islands during the year 2022–23 under PMMSY.

The component on Assistance for acquisition of Deep Sea Fishing (FRP/ Steel) for Traditional Fishermen envisages subsidy @ 40% of the unit cost (120 Lakh.) with a ceiling of Rs.48.00 lakh for General Category and @ 60% with a ceiling of Rs.72.00 lakh for Schedule Tribe / Women and their Cooperative Societies towards support for acquisition of Deep sea fishing (FRP/ Steel) vessels for traditional fishermen.
