Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 5: In a landmark initiative aimed at empowering the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVGT) Jarawas and ensuring their active participation in the democratic process, a special program was organized at their hamlet for the issuance of fresh Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC).

Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency reviewed the presentation of the report submitted by the Transaction Advisor on development of Megapode Resort and 4 Islands Eco-Tourism projects viz. Long Island, Aves Island, Shaheed Dweep & Smith Island in PPP mode. These tourism & hospitality projects would meet 5 Star categorization by Ministry of Tourism & green building rating by India's National Rating System for Green Buildings. Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, Chief Secretary & other senior officers of A&N Administration and ANIIDCO were also present during the presentation held today at Raj Niwas.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 5: Sports Authority of India (SAI), STC Sri Vijay Puram women rowing team won Silver Medals in the event category 2000 metre of the 44th Junior and 7th Inter State Challenger National Rowing Championship held at Pune, Maharashtra today. The successful participants Ms. Sneha Toppo and Ms. P. Alagammal are residential trainees of SAI, Sri Vijaya Puram and are trained under the international medalist coaches, Arjuna Awardee Shri Jenil Krishnan, Shri Justin J. Thomas and Shri Manish Kr. Tiwari.
