Port Blair, Sept. 13: A major fire accident was reported at the Andaman Pencil Wood Works company situated at Prothrapur Junction, in the mid night of 9th September 2020. The fire had not only caused major loss to the company but had also caused damages to the residents nearby.

Port Blair, Sept. 13: The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman had deputed a Doctor to carry out surprise inspection in the male and female COVID wards and of the COVID ICU. The surprise inspection revealed that the Nursing Officers and staff were present in both the wards and the ICU as per the roaster. Duty doctors were found in the COVID wards and also inside the COVID ICU.

Port Blair, Sept. 13: As a part of zero tolerance towards encroachment in South Andaman District, the Revenue Department is continuously removing encroachments from the Govt. Land. Various eviction drives have been conducted in the past three weeks and a large chunk of land has been cleared, where encroachments were committed on Government Lands including places like Little Andaman, Swaraj Dweep and Shaheed Dweep.

Having consulted various stakeholders in the process and taking into consideration the difficulties faced by the patients as observed during multiple visits to the hospital as well as taking feedback from all concerned, umpteen number of measures and steps have been put into place to ensure that the patients admitting to the hospital get reasonably high standard of treatment.
