Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 24: The Cooperative Department, A&N Administration, in a significant step towards supporting working parents has established ‘Fathers Home Creche’ in the premises of RCS Office Building, VIP Road, Sri Vijaya Puram, South Andaman. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri   Keshav Chandra, IAS, today inaugurated the much needed facility for the working parents in presence of Ms Nandini Paliwal, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Coop.), Ms Nandini Maharaj, IAS, Special Secretary (Coop.)-cum-RCS, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Swami Shudhananda Saraswati, Resident Acharya Chinmaya Mission, Smt. Komal Anand, President, ‘Pankh’ and other officials of the A&N Administration.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 24: As part of the ongoing Police Commemoration Week 2024, the South Andaman District Police undertook a special outreach initiative to connect with senior citizens and retired government servants residing in the District.

In a gesture of gratitude and care, beat staff from all Police stations under the South Andaman jurisdiction reached out to the elderly members of the community. The officers visited their homes, ensuring their well-being and addressing any concerns they may have. Essential support and assistance were provided to them, reinforcing the Department's commitment to the safety and welfare of its citizens, particularly the vulnerable and retired individuals who have contributed to society.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 24: In a concerted effort to reclaim encroached government land, an eviction drive was carried out at Prothrapur revenue village. The operation, part of ongoing efforts to clear unauthorized occupations, resulted in the successful restoration of approximately 350 square meters of government land to the Revenue Department.

The land in question, identified as part of the government revenue land, had been encroached upon with unauthorized fencing and a katcha structure. Acting upon the directions from the Revenue authorities, the eviction team dismantled the illegal structures, clearing the area and restoring it to government control.

Sri Vijaya Puarm, Oct. 24: Hon'ble Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Govt. of India, Shri Manohar Lal will be arriving on a day’s visit to A&N Islands tomorrow (Oct. 25). Soon after arrival, the Hon'ble Minister will meet the Hon'ble Lt. Governor, A & N Islands at Raj Niwas. The Hon'ble Minister of Power will hold meeting with A&N Officials of Power and Urban Development. Thereafter, the Hon'ble Minister of Power will visit NLC Solar Plant at Dollygunj and 5 MW NTPC Solar Plant at Garacharma.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 24: In a series of successful operations conducted during this week, the South Andaman District Police have arrested two drug peddlers and seized 2.341 kg of ganja. The arrest of these drug peddlers and the seizure of such a significant quantity of ganja in just one week underscores our commitment to ensuring a drug-free society.

Based on specific intelligence inputs, the team of Police Station Aberdeen conducted targeted raids at two different locations in this week. On 24/10/2024, a raid was executed at Phoenix Bay by the dedicated team led by Insp. Vishal Ram, SHO PS Aberdeen, the team comprised of Inspector Mithun Kirtania, Sub Inspector Abhishek Haldar, Head Constable S Jiju, Constables Jairaj, Mohd Rafique, Jagdish Babu, Surender Singh and Naw Elieen. The raid leading to apprehension of one Rajib Sarkar, 33 years, private worker R/o Delanipur with 2.140 Kg Ganja.
