Diglipur, March 25: CPI (M) North Andaman Area Committee has organised a public meeting at Talbagan in Diglipur on 22nd March, 2025.  Hundreds of villagers attended the meeting which was presided over by Sunil Dutta.  Addressing the meeting D. Ayyappan, State Secretary, CPI (M) criticized the BJP-led central government and its Administration in the Islands for the sufferings of the islanders.  He said that Modi government has failed to create job for the local youth in the islands.  He further said that farmers of rural areas in North Andaman are being harassed in the name of eviction from government land.  He said that farmers are in occupation of the government land for the last 50 – 60 years and three generation of farmers are living in the occupied land.  After the general election of 2024, land occupiers are being served with notices to vacate the land.  CPI (M) Secretary demanded that the land held by the farmers should be allotted to them.

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 25: The Directorate of Health Services, in association with Union Territory Health Mission (UTHM) and ANIIMS, conducted fixed-day Sterilization Camp at PHC, Hutbay, Little Andaman from March 17 to March 22, 2025. During the sterilization drive, a record number of 154 women from Hutbay, R.K. Pur and nearby villages were benefited from the laparoscopic sterilization services, which is recognized as a permanent method for family planning. 

Car Nicobar, March 25: The World Tuberculosis (TB) Day programme was conducted yesterday, in the Conference Hall of BJR Hospital, Car Nicobar, marking a significant step towards raising awareness about tuberculosis, its prevention and treatment. The event was graced by Shri Amit Kale, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District and Shri Lioneld Nicomed, Chief Captain of the Tribal Council, along with members of the Tribal Council, Heads of Departments from various sectors in Car Nicobar, Medical Staff and numerous guests.

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 25: An awareness camp on Elderline 14567 & the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents & Senior Citizens Act, 2007 was organized in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority, Sri Vijaya Puram, South Andaman at Tushnabad Gram Panchayat, aimed at empowering senior citizens with information on available support services.

Smti Sushma Pandey, Project Manager (NHSC) welcomed the gathering and provided an overview of the Helpline's operations. She explained that senior citizens can easily access assistance by calling 14567 or visiting the Helpline Office at WCD Control Room, VIP Road. The Helpline provides support for issues such as information, guidance and emotional support. NHSC staff are available to assist Elder from 8 am to 8 pm, every day.

Sri Vijaya Puram, March 25: The Department of Art and Culture, A&N Administration is going to organize ‘Sahitya Mahotsav-2025’ from 27.03.2025 to 29.03.2025. In this series, a 'Hasya Kavi Sammelan' will be organized by the Official Language Department, A&N Administration on 28.03.2025 at 6.30 pm in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Auditorium, Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council.
