Port Blair, Jan. 13: During the RT-PCR test conducted on 223 passengers who arrived here yesterday, 38 positive cases have been detected. Today, 14 flights with 647 passengers arrived, out of which, 499 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 148 passengers (includes 2 foreign travelers) and the reports are awaited.

Port Blair, Jan.13: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6, 00, 335 beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands. Similarly, 17,342 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years against the target beneficiaries of 23,000. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine today stood at 1853.

This feat has not only uplifted the confidence of the islanders but also inculcated a sense of security to the travellers bound for Andamans. The vaccination for teenagers and booster shots are also proceeding on war footing. DC Assures to Allow Selling of Sugarcane before Pongal at Bhatubasti and Aberdeen Bazaar

Port Blair, Jan 12: Fearing difficulties in selling this year, due to various COVID-19 restrictions, the sugarcane farmers of Makka Pahad, New Bimblitan, Pema and adjoining areas today contacted the Member of Parliament of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and mentioned that they want to sell sugarcane at Bhatubasti and Aberdeen Bazaar before Pongal, as it is done every year.
