INC – DMK Alliance Leads the Tally. TDP to be the Deciding Factor in Forming of Council

Port Blair, March 8: The results of the election to Port Blair Municipal Council were declared today. Accordingly among the 24 wards of the Municipal Council, the Indian National Congress (INC) secured 10 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 10 seats, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) secured 2 seats, the DMK party secured 1 seat and 1 seat was won by an Independent lady candidate. With INC and DMK alliance, INC stands as the majority but the deciding factor will be the two seats of the TDP to form the Council, while the one Independent seat may also be crucial. The results are as follows:

Member of Parliament Advocates for Attitudinal Shift Amongst Women and Society’s Thoughts About Women’s Equality

Port Blair, March 8: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma today stressed the need for an attitudinal shift amongst women and society’s thoughts about women’s equality. He was speaking at a seminar organized by A & N State Cooperative Union on the Occasion of International Women’s Day Celebration as Chief Guest. The seminar was organised at the premises of A&N State Cooperative Union, Teleryabad.

Port Blair, March 8: The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, South Andaman celebrated International Women’s Day – 2022 with the theme of "Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow" with great zeal & enthusiasm on 8th March 2022 at ICAR-KVK, South Andaman by inviting Farmwomen, Woman Entrepreneurs & Agri-preneurs. Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director CIARI, graced the occasion as chief guest and called upon the women to recognize one’s own inner strength and build the family thereby building stronger nation. He also inspected and appreciated the items displayed in different categories of competitions viz. Handicrafts, Farm Produces and Millet based recipe. A debate competition on ‘Gender Equality’ was also organized and prizes were distributed to the winners.

A seminar was organized on the topic “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” as a part of the programme.
