Port Blair, Sept. 9: The Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) successfully hosted a Chess Simul Event featuring Grandmaster Tejas Bakre, at Hotel Lemon Tree, Port Blair this evening. The event saw enthusiastic chess players from the islands, both young and old, challenging the Grandmaster in simultaneous games, providing a rare opportunity to play against one of India’s top chess talents.

Port Blair, Sept. 9: Transport Department under A & N Administration not only provides efficient public road transport to the commuters in the UT but also ensures that its crews are sensitive towards the commuters. Few grievances from the commuters were received and immediately in order to address this, it has been decided to improve the behavioural aspect of employees by way of organizing Soft Skill training to the employees at regular intervals.

Port Blair, Sept. 9: The Department of Art & Culture, A & N Administration on the occasion of World Tourism Day-2024 is going to organize a theme based dance cultural programme and drawing/painting competition-cum-exhibition for school students on the theme ‘tourism- peace, unity and cultural harmony’.

Applications have been invited from cultural organization of A&N Islands interested to participate in the cultural programme. Selection of the dance group will be done through spot performance at Andaman Club on 16/09/2024 from 3 pm to 5 pm and the best two dance groups selected will perform on 27/09/2024 at Dr. BR Ambedkar Auditorium.

Diglipur, Sept. 9: A significant Legal Awareness Camp was successfully organized by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), North& Middle Andaman (N&MA) under the esteemed guidance of Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, N & M Andaman. The event was held at Gram Panchayat Hall in Kishorinagar, Diglipur on Sept. 7, 2024, aimed at educating and empowering the local community on various legal issues.

Port Blair, Sept. 9: The Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Andaman and Nicobar Islands, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department will be conducting a series of Screening and Awareness Generation Camps for Divyangjans (Persons with Disabilities) in North & Middle Andaman District.

These camps are part of its ongoing efforts to provide essential assistive devices under the Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) Scheme and to raise awareness about available support services. A dedicated team has been deployed to conduct these camps. Accordingly, the camp will be held in Mayabunder on Sept.10, 2024 at Rampur Panchayat and at GPOA Hall at Diglipur from 9 am to 3 pm on Sept.11, 2024.
