Port Blair, Sept. 5: Squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is very likely along & off Andaman & Nicobar coast till Sept. 9. Sea condition is likely to be rough to very rough. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off Andaman & Nicobar coast till Sept. 9.

Port Blair, Sept. 4: A workshop on Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP) - Integration with Andaman & Nicobar Administration was organized by Directorate of Industries, A&N Administration & NICDC Logistics Data Services (NLDS) today in the Conference Hall of Directorate of Industries at Middle Point.

NICDC Logistics Data Services (NLDS) is a joint venture between Government of India represented by National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) and Japanese IT major NEC Corporation, with 50:50 equity participation.

Port Blair, Sept. 4: The South Andaman Area Committee of CPI (M) has begun the programme of Panchayat Visit with a view to interact with the general public and to know the issues and problems of the people in each area of the rural South Andaman.  On 01.09.2024, a group of CPI (M) leaders and sympathizers led by State Secretary D. Ayyappan visited various parts of Hope Town Gram Panchayat and interacted with a cross section of the people.  Party leaders met a number of old Party Workers and sought their suggestions to revive the party’s activities in the Hope Town Panchayat area.

Port Blair, Sept. 4: Continuing its efforts to curb down illegal quarrying, the District Administration of South Andaman recently conducted a surprise check at Sippighat village, resulting in the immediate seizure of a breaker machine. The equipment was being utilized for the unlawful extraction of boulders in the area.

The District Administration has reaffirmed its commitment to taking stringent measures against those engaging in such illegal activities. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the individual involved, and the confiscated machinery will serve as evidence in the ongoing investigation.

Car Nicobar, Sept. 4: Project KIRTI, the flagship sports talent identification scheme of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has kick started in India’s southernmost Nicobar District on the eve of National Sports Day. Despite its low population density, project KIRTI has received massive response from the Islanders. Over 700 children of the age group 10-18 years have participated in the event. 500 Registrations have been received from Campbell Bay, Katchal and Kamorta Islands.
