Port Blair, Feb 21: The Youth Wing of Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry in collaboration with Industries Department conducts Startup Boot Camp PITCH 2021 on fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among the students involving all the Higher education institutes viz. Colleges of A&N Islands as well as Senior Secondary Classes of Schools to bring out ideas and innovations amongst the youth. The Government of India has started various competitions like Atal New India Challenges, Smart India Hackathon and various Startup events to encourage innovations and competitions at School and College level.

Port Blair, Feb 21: Working towards its commitment to make the islands drug-free, police is conducting regular raids on any information of transportation or consumption of drugs. In another such success, police recovered more than 200gms ganja from a person named Sujit Kumar Das R/o Billiground. In Diglipur also, police party on patrolling searched a person based on suspicion and a chance recovery of consumable quantity of ganja was affected from the person named Suraj Majumdar. Cases under NDPS Act have been registered after following due formalities in both these instances and police is conducting raids based on their interrogation to reach the source.

Port Blair, Feb 21: A week long Mime workshop was organized by Kala Kendra’ – A &N Islands Society for Promotion of Art & Culture under Department of Art & Culture, A & N Administration from 12th to 18th February at Andaman Club, Port Blair with the aim to provide a platform to young artists of the Island to explore their hidden talent in the field of theatre with special reference to Mime which is an art to present a story through body motions, without the use of speech.

Port Blair, Feb 21: On 09/02/2021, Police Station Central Crime Station received information regarding Ganja concealed in a parcel being transported through India Post. A team comprising SI Bisavjeet Prasad, Constable Amos George and Raja Rao tracked the parcel to Shaheed Dweep and arrest of Jotin Roy s/o Late Ramakanta Roy r/o Village Ram Nagar, Shaheed Dweep with 1.100 kg Ganja. Jotin Roy has been convicted for possession of Ganja in 2013.

Port Blair, Feb 21: Motivated by the UN secretary general Antonio Guterres’s call in April last year for a halt to “horrifying global surge in domestic violence” during the lockdown, Women’s Wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has launches a 10-day ‘Strong Family, Strong Society’ nationwide campaign with a view to establishing peace within the family and the society across the country. The campaign will run between February 19 and 28, 2021.
