District Administration Orders Closure of All Shops and Establishments Except Listed Ones From 2nd May
Port Blair, April 30: In view of the recent surge in the positive cases of COVID-19 in the Islands, the South Andaman District Administration has been taking various proactive steps to contain the spread of the virus in the District. The District Administration is closely monitoring the situation and noticed that there is a steep increase in positive cases in the past few days.
In order to place strict measures of isolation and social distancing in the South Andaman District and to prevent any disturbance to the peace and tranquillity, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, District Magistrate, South Andaman in exercise of the powers vested U/s 144 of Cr. P.C. has ordered that in addition to the existing Night Curfew Order, more restriction will be imposed from 2nd of May 2021.

Port Blair, April 30: The Secretary, IP&T, Shri Sunil Kumar Singh while briefing the media persons in the conference hall of IP&T today informed that the massive surge in COVID cases and deaths taking place all over the Country is a matter of great concern. The COVID situation is also not good in these Islands too. Altogether, 40 people were found positive during RAT conducted at Airport and Bus Stand today. The Secretary informed that 7 flights with 576 passengers arrived in Port Blair. Out of this, 10 passengers were tested corona positive. Altogether, 476 stranded persons who were bound to travel to North and Middle Andaman were tested, out of which 30 people were found positive. The increasing number of COVID cases is matter of great concern for the Administration and these figures show that the situation is not improving in isles despite our best efforts, he said.

Port Blair, April 30: In view of the second wave of COVID-19 cases in A&N Islands, and in order to prevent the spread of infections among the PVTGs, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, District Magistrate, South Andaman District has issued the following prohibitory orders for the fishermen as well as the general public to not to venture into the following areas or anywhere close to the tribal buffer zones and not to come in contact with the PVTGs at any costs.

Port Blair, April 30: The District Administration is working on war footing to contain the spread of Covid-19 and limiting the number of cases in South Andaman District and has taken various proactive and necessary measures/ precautions in order to bring this pandemic to a halt.
District Control Room is working 24/7 tirelessly to redress public grievances related to Covid-19 including door to door delivery of medicine, Home Quarantine and Field Surveillance. It has also been carrying out follow up on Covid-19 patients and ILI/SARI patients. In these difficult circumstances due to pandemic, our priority is to solve each and every grievance.
