Port Blair, Sept. 30: Continuing on the zero tolerance policy on the organized crime, district police of North & Middle Andaman carried out a crackdown on the manufacturing and sale of illicit liquor. Based on information that due to the fear of action by the police, some people are making 'jungli' liquor in the nearby forest, search teams were deputed. Thousands of litres of the concoction stored for fermentation was destroyed in these search operations. PS Kalighat and PS Rangat have done particularly well in this.

While the lockdown is much required to fight the pandemic, it has also lead to numerous problems, especially for the underprivileged section of the society who live in a ‘hand to mouth’ situation throughout the year. Police to Actively Pursue for Maximum Punishment of 20 Years of Rigorous Imprisonment
Port Blair, Sept. 29: With the philosophy of zero tolerance against the sale of narcotics drugs in the South Andaman District, the Police team comprising PC/1905 Ashok Kr. Roy, PC/2438 Debasish Roy, PC/586 Suresh, PC/1094 T. Anil, PC/1418 Shiva Kumar and LPC/32 Priyanka Khatoon headed by SI K. Ilangovan, SHO PS Bambooflat have seized 3.30 Kgs of ‘Methamphetamine’ illicit drug from two persons.

Port Blair, Sept. 30: Chinmaya Mission Port Blair will be organsing week long Sri Bhagwat Mahapuran Saptah from October 3 to October 10, 2020 at Mission Auditorium. The Katha will be held every day from 5 pm to 8 pm. Resident Acharya of the Port Blair Mission, Swami Shuddhananda Saraswati will conduct the programme.

Port Blair, Sept. 29: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Minister of Jal Skhakti, Govt. of India, New Delhi to include Andaman & Nicobar Islands under ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ which aims to provide safe and adequate tapped water connections to all households by 2024. The MP has also requested to allocate Rs.2000 Crore to A&N Islands in order to ensure timely completion of the Flat Bay Water Project under Jal Jeevan Mission to provide relief to the public from water deficit.
