ANI Administration Citizens to Break the Chain of Transmission of Virus

Port Blair, June 3: The Secretary (IP&T), Shri Sunil Kumar Singh addressing the media persons on COVID-19 situation in the Islands and steps initiated by the Administration to protect its citizens today has once again requested the general public to follow COVID Appropriate Behaviour so as to break the chain of transmission of the virus.  He said that during the RT-PCR conducted on 330 incoming passengers who arrived here yesterday, 5 positive cases have been detected despite their carrying RT-PCR report from mainland. He further disclosed that today, 2 flights with 289 passengers arrived and the RT-PCR report is awaited. He mentioned  that during the RAT conducted on 100 passengers proceeding to N&M Andaman at Ferrargunj, all the reports were negative.  

Port Blair, June 3: In what can be termed as inhuman and step-motherly approach, the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) which is manning the A&N Administration’s vessel MV Dering is allegedly putting the lives of the local crew in danger.

It has come to light that MV Dering is presently at Kolkata waters for Dry Dock Repairs. While the vessel awaits its turn since February 2021 for docking, there are atleast 13 local crew of the Directorate of Shipping Services, Andaman & Nicobar Administration who have not been allowed to get vaccinated.

Port Blair, June 3: The Member of Parliament Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary to provide ship to Hutbay, Nicobar, Kamorta and Campbell Bay to shift the stranded passengers. A good number of people from inter islands are presently stationed at Port Blair due to non-availability of ships to these areas.

Port Blair, June 3: Lt Gen Ajai Singh, AVSM, Commander-in-Chief Andaman & Nicobar Command  visited the Military units and formations in the Nicobar Group of Islands on 03 Jun 21. Towards reinforcing operational readiness and preparedness, Naval Air Station Baaz, Campbell Bay and Air Force Station Car Nicobar, briefed the CINCAN during the visit.

Port Blair, June 3: The Port Blair Guru ki Rasoi (PBGKR) has been on the forefront when it comes to helping the families in need especially during the times of the pandemic. During the first wave, the NGO served 75,000+ cooked meals and 1750+ ration kits to the needy families.
