Port Blair, Sept. 10: Hope Foundation organised an impactful awareness program on suicide prevention at Government Sr. Sec. School Delanipur today. The initiative aimed to educate students and staff about mental health, the importance of emotional well-being, and how to seek help in times of crisis.

Diglipur, Sept. 10: A meeting of farmers of Paschimsagar was held at Paschimsagar, North Andaman on 6th September, 2024 under the banner of All India Kisan Sabha in which various land related issues of the farmers were discussed.
SR Mridha, Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar State Committee of All India Kisan Sabha and Sunil Bepari, President, CITU Diglipur Zonal Committee addressed the farmers. They called upon the farmers to remain united to fight for resolving the long-pending demand of allotment of land to all the landless villagers who are in occupation of Forest/Revenue land for the last 50 years. Dilip Kamakar also addressed the meeting.

Port Blair, Sept. 10: The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) organized a nationwide art competition in which 11,000 students participated from around 100 cities from all over India and excellent entries were received from different parts of the country. INTACH received entries in English, Hindi and regional languages including Bangla, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Malayalam,Odia,Tamil and Telugu.

Port Blair, Sept. 10: Suicide is a major public health challenge, with more than 700000 deaths each year globally. Each suicide has far-reaching social, emotional, and economic consequences, and deeply affects individuals and communities worldwide. The triennial theme for World Suicide Prevention Day for 2024-2026 is ‘Changing the Narrative on Suicide’ with the call to action ‘Start the Conversation’. This theme aims to raise awareness about the importance of reducing stigma and encouraging open conversations to prevent suicides. Changing the narrative on suicide is about transforming how we perceive this complex issue and shifting from a culture of silence and stigma to one of openness, understanding and support.
